Ara Glenn-Johanson is a performer and director-choreographer working in theatre, film and television, and contemporary performance. She has been seen in The Lily’s Revenge (Lilac) at The American Repertory Theater, The Donkey Show (Dimitri/Vinnie) at The American Repertory Theater, The Lily’s Revenge (Mary Prime Love) at The Magic Theatre, the UK tour of Mankind with PLS, Warner Bros. Entertainment's The Judge, Sitting in a Circle with Erika Chong Shuch Performance Project, the international tour of Mugwumpin’s This Is All I Need, Heeliomali and Trolley Dances with Epiphany Productions Sonic Dance Theatre, and Romeo & Juliet (Lady Capulet) and Twelfth Night (Olivia) at Impact Theatre.
Ara directs and choreographs for theatre and makes contemporary performance works. Projects include Act 3 (The Love Act) of The Lily's Revenge at The American Repertory Theater, This Will Be Our Last Transmission for Alumnae Theatre's Fireworks Festival, She Kills Monters at The Boston Center for the Arts, and The Magic Fish at Boston's Outside The Box Festival. Her experimental performance works have been curated in NYC, San Francisco, Toronto, Boston, and San Diego. Ara is honored to have been chosen as an Artist in Residence at the Headlands Center for the Arts and as a recipient of a Fort Mason In Performance Grant (Hewlett Foundation). She holds a BFA in drama (NYU/Tisch - Experimental Theatre Wing & CAP21) and an MFA in acting (UCD). @araaragj
