Ara makes contemporary performance.  She's made pieces for theaters, galleries, sidewalks, parks, and a pirate ship.  Her work has been curated in New York City, San Francisco and the Bay Area, Toronto, San Diego, and Boston at venues/presenters including Movement Research, ODC Theater, CounterPULSE, Dance Mission Theater, SOMArts, Series 8:08, Golden Gate Park Bandshell, Casa Del Prado Theater, and Mobius.  In collaboration with her frequent artistic partner Matthew Milo, Ara was an Artist in Residence at The Headlands Center for the Arts (CA), Videofag (TO), and The Garage (SF) as well as the recipient of a Fort Mason In Performance Grant (Hewlett Foundation).  Matt and Ara collaborate under the ensemble name North America (, @americanorth).
